The first round of voting for nominees in the New Seven Wonders of Nature search, which started January 1st, is about to close by the 31st of this month. More than 500 breath-taking sites from all the corners of the planet vie for a slot among the seven up-for-grabs for the honor to be dubbed as one of the Seven Wonders of Nature. A new rule imposed by the organizer of the search, by the late September or August of this year, defines that only one nominee among multiple nominees from a certain country will move to the second round of voting to start January 2009. Before this new rule was imposed by the New Seven Wonders Search Organizers, the top 21 nominees by the end of the first round of voting this year were those supposed to move to the 2009 second round. But, as seen on the rankings updated daily more than one nominee from every country such as the Philippines, Vietnam, Bangladesh, and others have constantly been leaders on the board.
