After a year of worldwide nominating and voting for the first round of the New Seven Wonders of Nature Search through the internet, one place captured the eyes of the world topping the list of more than 800 nominees from all the corners of the planet. And this place is no other than the Philippines' pride - Puerto Princesa Subterranean River, in Palawan Island.

As the first round of voting ended in December 31, 2008, this "new world" claimed the first place on the ranking of nominees. It has been formally chosen as the Philippines' Official Nominee for the second round of online voting, a step closer to being named as one of the Seven Wonders of Nature in 2011. Puerto Princesa Subterranean River was one of the seven nominees from the Philippines which included Chocolate Hills (Rank 6), Tubattaha Reef (Rank 4), Mayon Volcano (Rank 11), Hundred Islands (part of Top 77), Taal Volcano (part of Top 77), and Mount Pinatubo (part of Top 77).
