How to Go to Simala (Our Lady, Holy Mediatrix of All Graces Shrine)
From Tacloban City to Simala
If you are from Tacloban City, you have to ride a van or a bus to Ormoc City. The travel time would be about 2 hours or more depending on traffic demand which is also dependent on days and time of the day. The fastest way to get to Ormoc City would be via a van. You can choose among available lines which include GrandTours, DupTours, and Van-van's. Fare would range from PhP130-PhP150. Ask the driver to have you dropped at Ormoc Port.
Through Ormoc Port, you have the choices to ride fast boats such as Supercat and Ocean Jet, which would take you about 2 hours to get to Cebu. Fare range is from PhP650-PhP750, one-way. The boats are pretty comfortable and they'll get you to Cebu fast if you have limited time travel. If you don't want to ride fast boats, you can try the longer travel with Roble ships.
Cebu City to Simala
Simala is actually a barangay in Sibonga, Cebu. There are vans that will go directly from Cebu City to Simala Church or the Our Lady Mediatrix of All Graces Church. From the Cebu City downtown, you can ride 12G or 12I jeepneys to Cebu Technological University and infront of it is Citilink Terminal. The fare is just PhP8/person. You can also ride a taxi but cost would be higher.
Once in Citilink, you won't have the problem of locating the vans bound for Simala. The barkers will automatically invite you to get into one of the vans due to travel. The vans have to be full before it starts travel, so better be early if you want to be able to attend mass that usually starts at 10am. Fare is PhP100 and travel time is not fixed, it may take you 2 hours.
Going Back to Cebu City
Once done with your pilgrimage, you have to ride motorbikes or habal-habal to get to Simala Terminal. Fare is PhP20/person. It will bring you directly to the van terminal harbor vehicles bound for Cebu City Citilink Terminal. Same fare, PhP100.
